Kinsale Young Shark Awards

The brief was to create a great name and a great 30-second TV script for a made-up product. Product X is aimed at parents with small VERY fussy kids who are just starting to eat and get used to “proper” meals. Basically, the product is a flavour spray/mist that comes in a tiny can (an aerosol, about the size of a fresh breath spray) that can be sprayed on cabbage, sprouts, spinach, broccoli etc. to make all these frankly foul weeds palatable to the more discerning toddler.

Product Name: Mealtime Mischief Mist

Insight: Fussy children are known to sneak their dog food they don’t want to eat.

Idea: Mealtime Mischief Mist means children are licking their plates clean. The only downside? There’s none left for the dogs.

Check out our winning idea below.

A Dog’s Life

SFX: Mad World by Gary Jules (Feat. Michael Andrews) plays. *All around me are familiar faces…*

VISION: We open on a close-up of the floor underneath a family dining table. We see four sets of feet. Two are adult’s feet planted on the ground and two are children’s feet dangling over dining chairs. In the centre of the setting, we see a well-fed Labrador peeking his head out to stare at his child masters. His expression is hopeful. Puppy dog eyes don’t begin to cover it.

He sits and waits but nothing comes. Not a single plate, not a scrap in his direction. Why have his small humans decided to betray him?

FADE TO BLACK.

VISION:
We see the same scene under the table again and again. A family eating together, a dog losing hope. The puppy dog eyes increase with each day. How long has it been now? A week, a month? The dog has visibly begun to slim down. We can’t help but wonder how much longer the little ones will continue to polish their plates.

One ordinary day when the dog has all but given up there is a sudden “thud”. The dog’s eyes widen, and he lunges towards the noise hoping like crazy it’s a delicious leftover. The dog is disappointed to see it is a bottle of some sort. He sniffs it intently, wondering what this strange new object is…

We see the Mother’s hand reach under to retrieve the small bottle. As she does, we see a glimpse of the dog's name tag “Fussy’” He looks up, confused.

FVO: Sorry Fussy, but there’s no room for your nose at the table anymore.

SUPER: Make dinnertime fussiness history with Mealtime Mischief Mist.

END SCENE.
